Fix my ACSchertz Plumbing and HVAC, Done Right the First Time
From the established neighborhoods near Randolph to the newer builds off I-35, Radiant’s licensed technicians handle Schertz plumbing, cooling and heating with the price approved before we start.
Schertz stretches along I-35 and FM 78 on the northeast side of the San Antonio area, spilling across Guadalupe County into corners of Bexar and Comal. It grew up around Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, so the older neighborhoods date from the 1970s and 80s and were built for the families stationed there. The newer sections along the interstate are slab-on-grade subdivisions from the last two decades. Both sit on blackland clay, and both drink the same very hard water as the rest of the region.
Radiant has served San Antonio since 1999, and Schertz is a core part of our northeast territory. Schmidt Mechanical of San Antonio is now part of Radiant, so former Schmidt customers in Schertz are covered by the same team. The calls we take here most often are air conditioners that give out in the first real heat of June, water heaters that have quietly scaled up for a decade, sewer lines cracked by clay movement, and drains in older homes that back up after heavy rain.
Every visit is a licensed, background-checked technician who explains the problem plainly and gives you a written price before starting. That quote is honored for 72 hours with no hidden fees. If a repair is the smart move, we make it. If the equipment is at the end of its life, we show you replacement numbers and financing options and let you decide without pressure.

Schertz plumbersRecurring backups in Schertz often trace to a shifted sewer line. We clear it, then camera the line so you know the truth.
Clear the drainWhen the tank is rusting through or the element has burned out for the last time, we replace it cleanly and haul the old one away.
Replacement optionsGuadalupe County water is very hard. A softener is the cheapest way to make every other appliance last longer.
Softener installGas furnaces in older Schertz homes need a safety check with every repair. We do both before the first cold front.
Heating helpDecades of dust in original ductwork. Cleaning and sealing improves airflow and cuts what the AC has to work against.

Blackland clay. The dark soil under Schertz swells in a wet spring and shrinks hard in August. Foundations flex, and the sewer and water lines running through and under them crack or pull apart at the joints. If drains slow down all over the house after rain, or you see a soggy patch in the yard during a drought, the line is talking to you. A camera inspection shows exactly what is going on before anyone digs.
Two eras of housing. The neighborhoods built for Randolph families in the 70s and 80s have original galvanized supply lines, cast iron drains and ductwork that has never been sealed. The newer I-35 subdivisions have PEX and modern equipment, but builder-grade water heaters and condensers that begin failing around year ten. We know what to look for in each.
Hard water. Scale shortens the life of water heaters, clogs aerators and leaves the crust on shower glass. A softener and an annual heater flush are the two most cost-effective plumbing investments in Schertz.
Long cooling season. Air conditioners here run hard from April through October. Leaky attic ducts and undersized returns are the usual reasons a system cannot keep up, and both are cheaper to fix than a bigger unit.
Freeze prep. February 2021 burst attic water heaters and exposed lines across Schertz. Insulation and a shutoff valve you can reach in the dark are worth an afternoon.
Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City and Converse are all part of our everyday San Antonio routes.
Save on the work your home needs most.
The two big ones are the supply lines and the sewer. Galvanized steel supply pipe from that era rusts shut from the inside, so pressure drops year over year and water runs brown after a trip. Under the slab and out in the yard, decades of clay movement crack cast iron and clay sewer lines or separate them at the joints, which shows up as slow drains throughout the house and backups after rain. Neither is an emergency today, but both get more expensive the longer they wait. We start with a pressure test and a camera inspection and show you what we find before recommending anything.
A real tune-up is not a filter change. We test the capacitor and contactor, which are the parts most likely to fail on the first 100-degree day, check refrigerant charge, clean the outdoor coil, inspect the blower and the drain line, measure the temperature split across the coil and verify the thermostat is doing what it says. The point is to find the part that is about to fail while it is still a planned repair. In a place with a six-month cooling season, that is worth it. Care Club members get two tune-ups a year on an enrolled system for $9.99 a month, with priority service and no dispatch fees.
Gurgling after rain usually means water is getting into your sewer line from outside. On clay soil, a cracked or offset sewer line lets groundwater in when the ground is saturated, which fills the line, traps air and pushes it back up through the fixtures. Tree roots find the same cracks and make it worse. Clearing the line will get you through the week, but the honest fix is finding the damaged section. A drain cleaning visit with a camera shows whether it is a spot repair, a lining job or a full replacement, and you get the price for each before deciding.
