Home Services That Fit Liberty Hill

Liberty Hill was a quiet ranching town on the North Fork of the San Gabriel River for most of its history, and the older homes near downtown and the sculpture park still feel that way. What has changed is everything around them. Large master-planned communities along SH 29 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard have brought thousands of new slab-on-grade homes, while the country roads between them hold custom houses and ranchettes on acreage, many of them on private wells, septic systems and propane.

Radiant serves the whole mix. On acreage properties our plumbers work on pressure tanks, softeners, sediment filtration and the long water lines that run from a wellhead to the house. In the new neighborhoods we handle air conditioners pushed hard by full sun and hot attics, builder-grade water heaters and the first round of leaks. Our licensed electricians cover panels, EV chargers, well-pump circuits and the outbuildings that come with land.

Every call gets a licensed, background-checked technician, a plain explanation and a written price before work begins. That quote holds for 72 hours, and weekends and holidays cost the same as any other day. The Home Comfort Guarantee covers all of it.

  • Well-system fluent Pressure tanks, switches, softeners and filtration on private wells are everyday work.
  • Rock-aware repairs We locate leaks precisely because trenching limestone is slow and expensive.
  • Electrical for acreage Shops, barns, well pumps and EV chargers wired by licensed electricians.

What Liberty Hill Land Does to a House

Limestone and caliche. Liberty Hill sits on the eastern edge of the Hill Country, and most lots are rock a foot or two down. That keeps slabs stable, but it makes every trench slow and costly. We use acoustic leak location and sewer cameras to be certain before anyone digs, and we talk through trenchless options when a line does need replacing.

Wells and septic. Outside the city limits and the newer subdivisions, private wells are common. That means a pressure tank and switch instead of a city meter, sediment and hardness that vary with the season, and a septic system that cares what goes down the drain. We handle the house side of the well and give straight advice on what belongs in a septic tank.

Very hard water. Whether it comes from a well or a utility, water here has passed through limestone. Scale on water heaters, tankless units and fixtures is the result, and a softener is the fix.

Sun, wind and hot attics. New homes on open land get sun on every wall and no shade. Properly sized cooling, sealed ducts and adequate attic insulation matter more here than in a tree-covered Austin neighborhood.

Propane and outages. Many acreage homes run on propane rather than natural gas, and rural power lines go down in storms. Our plumbers handle propane-fed appliances and our electricians install generator connections for homes that cannot afford to lose power to the well pump.

Freezes. Wellheads, pressure tanks and exposed lines to outbuildings are what froze in February 2021. Insulation and heat tape are cheap protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Liberty Hill house is on a well and the pressure surges, then drops. What is going on?

Cycling pressure on a well system usually points to the pressure tank or the pressure switch, not the pump itself. A tank that has lost its air charge or has a failed bladder makes the pump kick on and off constantly, which you feel as surging at the shower and eventually as a burned-out pump. A stuck or mis-set switch does something similar. Our plumbers check the tank charge, the switch settings and the house-side plumbing, including any softener or filter that may be restricting flow, and quote the fix before doing it. We work on the house side of the system; if the problem is down the well casing, we will tell you that honestly so you can call a pump company.

We are on septic. Does that change how you clear a clogged drain?

It changes what we recommend, not whether we can help. Clearing the stoppage works the same way: we find where the line is blocked and clear it with a cable or, for grease and scale, hydro-jetting. The difference is what happens downstream. A repeated kitchen clog in a septic home often means the tank is due for pumping or the drain field is saturated, and no amount of cabling fixes that. We will tell you when the problem is past the house so you do not pay us twice for the same symptom. We also skip harsh chemical drain openers, which are hard on septic bacteria. Our drain cleaning page explains the tools we use.

The power goes out for hours out here. Can you set up a generator connection at our Liberty Hill home?

Yes. Radiant is licensed for electrical work in the Austin area, and generator connections are common requests on acreage properties where an outage also means no well pump and no water. Our electricians install transfer switches and inlet connections for portable generators, and full standby generator installations for homes that want the whole house covered automatically. The right choice depends on what you need to keep running: a well pump, a refrigerator and a few circuits is a very different job from the entire house. We walk through the options and give you a written price for each. Learn more on our generator page.

Our new home in one of the SH 29 subdivisions already has hard-water spots everywhere. Is that normal?

Normal, and worth acting on. Liberty Hill water is hard from the day the house is built, so spotting on fixtures, film on glassware and a scale ring in the water heater start immediately. Most newer homes here are plumbed with a softener loop in the garage, which makes adding a water softener a straightforward job. We size it to the household, not to a sales sheet, and we can add a reverse osmosis tap in the kitchen if you want better-tasting drinking water too. Doing this in year one protects the water heater, dishwasher and washing machine for the rest of their lives.

Our 18 year old HVAC system finally gave out this past week, so we reached out to Radiant to see what could be done. They sent a tech out named Bryan the same day, and he did a great job looking over the entire HVAC system. He was friendly and helpful in explaining everything that he saw, and our options moving forward. We decided to replace the entire system, so we met with Jacob (same day thankfully) to find the best HVAC system for our needs. Jacob was friendly, professional, and did a great job explaining the different options on offer. Radiant was able to set-up next day install, which was much appreciated, because the temps were still going to be cold in the coming days.

The install team consisted of Carlos and Pablo, who were very courteous and professional, and were kind enough to answer any questions I had regarding the install. They did a great job installing our new HVAC system, and were tidy which is always appreciated! Before they left, they explained everything that had been done, and showed me photos of the work.

Our entire experience from start to finish was great. I appreciate that they send photos of who is coming to your home too. Friendly, kind, professional team members, and good work all the way around. Thanks Radiant!

I had Radiant Plumbing replace my tankless water heater, damaged in the Feb. 2021 snowmageddon storm with a new unit. The process was smooth and professional from start to finish. The plumber, James, was extremely knowledgeable and thoroughly explained my options to me. The cost and time to perform the installation were just as estimated. When he was done, James explained how to maintain the system, what service would be needed and how to perform it, and answered all of my engineering geek questions. It was a thoroughly positive experience. I have used several different plumbers in Austin over the past 15 yrs, but my search is over - I will not hesitate to call Radiant next time and would recommend them unreservedly.

8/9/23 Update: I have subsequently used Radiant for a toilet repair, faucet installation (Danny), and drain work (Ezekiel) and they have continued to impress with knowledgeable, friendly plumbers and quality work.
