This is your air conditioner here and I have something I have to say. I don’t know if you noticed, but it has been a rough summer here in San Antonio and I have been slaving away to keep you cool. It would be nice if I got a little recognition, you know, a little pat on the back here and there. But whatever, I am done nagging, I’ll just give you some TLC tips to keep me big and strong!
The first thing I want to stress is not to make me work more than I have too. Setting my thermostat to 60°F isn’t going to make it colder faster, it is only going to stress me out. And if you know anything about the air conditioner species, we don’t like to be stressed!
Secondly, my air filters have been telling me they are starting to get a little backed up. Just because you cleaned them in May doesn’t mean that they can last until next year. We aren’t like those air conditioners up in Maine, we work hard from May until November and our filters need to be changed more often because of it.
The last thing I want to talk about is getting me some insulation. What is the point of working so hard if all that nice air I’m pumping out is being lost? Make sure you seal cracks with caulk and use weatherstripping around windows and doors. And after you have done that, I have a little tip that can save you some of that money you love so much. If you combine a radiant barrier with loose fill insulation, you could lower your energy costs by almost 10%! Don’t ask me how I know anything about finances, it just comes naturally to me.
