Common Air Conditioning System Repairs

At Radiant Plumbing & Air Conditioning, we have an air conditioning maintenance team who can handle anything. Yes, that’s right, anything. Or at least anything when it comes to air conditioning. If you experience a sunburn this summer, we suggest referring to aloe for help. But in terms of keeping cool, probably the number-one priority for most customers this season, we’ve got your back. And our help couldn’t come at a better time, when outdoor temperatures are reaching the triple digits. You need to make sure your air conditioning is working properly to ensure your home doesn’t become a giant inferno this summer.

Problems do occur with your air conditioning, of course. Don’t think they won’t. It’s always the more presumptuous homeowners who wind up paying the costs for neglecting the needs of their cooling system. When you sense something is afoot with your air conditioning, you need to call for service immediately. No I’ll-do-it-tomorrow’s. No oh-it-can-wait-until-a-later-date’s. You need to call Radiant Plumbing & Air Conditioning for top-notch service, and the better off you’ll be this season.

4 Common Repairs for A/C Systems

We’ve encountered plenty of air conditioning repairs, but we’d have to say these are some of the most common:

  1. Refrigerant Leaks: If you happen to see a puddle forming around your air conditioner, it is likely just condensation from the system sweating in cooling, or a heat pump defrosting in the winter time. Refrigerant boils off at a much lower temperature than water, so if there is a refrigerant leak, you would tend to see oil residue not actual refrigerant. Do not clean it up yourself. Refrigerant and refrigerant oil can be hazardous and instead should be treated by a professional who will know the right safety precautions to take in fixing the leak. It’s also important to know other causes of A/C leaks so you can spot issues immediately.
  2. Compressor Failure: The compressor to your air conditioning is highly essential to its operation. If it stops working, so does the rest of the system. It will prevent your air conditioning from eliminating any heat or humidity from your home and leave it there to worsen and cause discomfort. While it’s certainly no problem our team can’t fix, there’s no denying it needs to be fixed immediately.
  3. Frozen Coils: A frozen treat sounds great during the summertime. Frozen coils in your air conditioning are not one of them. They are usually indicative of air flow problems, either by clogged air conditioning filters or duct systems. Our team of contractors can inspect these areas and clean out any source of clogging to ensure better air flow and that your coils no longer feel the brunt of it all.
  4. Electrical Control Issues: Sometimes your air conditioning problems come down to faulty wiring that can lead to hazards like shocks and electrical fires. Faulty wiring can also lead to your air conditioning system frequently tripping the circuit breaker. Allow our contractors to inspect your electrical connections to ensure you have an air conditioning system that is safe and effective. It can really be a lifesaver.
