Radiant Plumbing December Helping Hands Winner: Central Texas SPCA

This month Radiant Plumbing & Air Conditioning has chosen the Central Texas SPCA as its monthly $1000 donation recipient for December. We love to be able to help worthwhile causes in our communities and this organization gives back in a big way!  They are a non-euthanasia (no-kill) facility that takes in animals until it can not fit or care for any more due to limited resources and/or space. They only employ one full time employee and the rest of the work done there comes from volunteer work.

They don’t have the traditional, cold, stainless steel kennels that you think of when you hear of an animal shelter.  They have clean spacious environments that they have made comfortable for the animals there, which adds to less stress on the already at risk animal.  They are free to run and play as well as having indoor space with bedding for cozy nights.

“At the Central Texas SPCA, we treat our shelter pets with the same love and care we give our own, and that means providing them regular medical and dental care, monthly heartworm and flea preventative and annual vaccinations. Our unique shelter provides a homelike environment that focuses on constantly improving our pets’ mental and physical well being to ensure they remain highly adoptable and happy while waiting for their new, forever families to find them.”  They have two full fenced in acres that the dogs have to run and play while they are waiting for their Forever Family.

This type of a nonprofit that does so much to ensure the kind and humane treatment of its animals is costly to maintain and run.  Any type of help that you are able to provide will mean one less thing they have to worry about while trying to save these animals.  They have a section of their website dedicated to everything that they currently are in need of.  You can find the info by clicking here

They do not adopt out any of their animals until they are sure that the pet will have a “Forever Family” with their new owners.  They do not want the dog or cat to end up back on the street or in another facility.

The main way that the facility keeps overhead cost down is through the help of its volunteers.  In a given month, the volunteers that so graciously give their time through the month work as much as two and a half full time employees would have.  That helps to relieve a significant burden on an organization that is already struggling  to help as many animals as possible. At least 90%of all the financial assistance they receive goes straight to the care and well-being of the animals.

If you are interested in volunteering or adopting their website is a great resource with information on both.  You can click here for info on volunteering alone, or even with a group.  It can be a very rewarding project for you and your friends or coworkers to make a positive change in your community while having fun with some animals that have more love to give than you can imagine!  If you would like some information on what dogs or cats are available just click on the respective link.  Or they also have pet adoption days where you can meet them around the Austin area to find the newest member of your family.

Again we are very happy to be able to help and hope that you will be able to help as well.  If you don’t have free time in your schedule but you would still like to help, you can always donate via their website.
